Light and Dark

During our light and dark topic we used neon paint, black card and a salad spinner to create some beautiful firework pictures. We shared a book about a little girl called Bo going to her very first firework display. This allowed us to explore the feelings that the children had about fireworks and how they were celebrating with their families. Some children even bought in some photos of them having fun, which was lovely to see. We also shared the book 'The Owl who was afraid of the dark'. The children really enjoyed learning about Plop the owl and why he found dark so scary. We worked together to create our very own Plop and talked about our own feelings of the dark and what we can do to make ourselves feel less worried. To finish our topic we learnt about nocturnal animals and the children were able to identify badgers, foxes, bats, hedgehogs and of course owls like Plop as nocturnal animals
