Welcome to Southcott Lower School
Thank you for your interest in our school. Southcott is a two-form-entry lower school. We have approximately 300 children on roll, with children able to join our Pre-school in the term of their third birthday. Our children are polite, well behaved and show a great love for learning and for their school.
Southcott is a school where everyone matters; all members of our learning community are important and valued whether child or adult. We have a talented and dedicated staff committed to providing the very best education for all our children.
We aim to develop the whole child. Our curriculum provides opportunities for children to work individually, in pairs or in groups learning important skills such as listening, co-operating, negotiating and sharing with each other. We encourage our children to take an active role in their learning and to be independent.
We aim for the highest quality teaching and learning and work very hard to meet the individual needs of all our children. We celebrate achievement, in all its forms, and have high expectations for all children. This is reflected in our core values: respect, resilience, collaboration, achievement.
Children access a wide range of activities both inside and out of the classroom. Our grounds, which include a large playing field, environmental area and trim trail, provide rich outdoor learning opportunities.
Our website includes a great deal of information which I hope you find useful. However I warmly welcome you to visit our school, to see it for yourself and to meet both children and staff. Choosing a school for your child needs to be based on an informed decision and we would be delighted to show you round, to see us in action and answer any questions you may have.
Kindest regards,
Sarah Laundy
